Recording from microphone

Most sound cards has the ability to receive sound input from a microphone through the sound card microphone port. Follow the steps below in order to record voice or sound from a microphone to your computer:

  1. Check Your Hardware: The most common problem when your microphone has never worked, or it stopped working is the physical connection of the microphone to the sound card microphone port. Please check that it is firmly plugged into the microphone port of your sound card (not to the headphone or speaker port). You can check the sound card documentation or sound card itself to determine microphone port (see if microphone port is marked with a picture of a microphone) or you can try all available sound card ports one by one.

  2. Run Smart Sound Recorder.

  3. Invoke Smart Sound Recorder settings dialog (by double click on the tray icon, by selecting Settings menu item from the tray menu or by using Hotkeys).

  4. Select your sound card in the Device settings section

  5. Select Microphone in the Input Pin dropdown list.

  6. Click Record button and speak into the microphone. If you did everything correctly you will see that Level indicators are moving up and down, that means that your voice is properly recorded.
